Hollywood actress Amber Heard wants the defamation case against her ex-husband Johnny Depp to be dismissed. This information has come out from the report of Variety. According to the report, the actress’s attorney filed a motion requesting that the case be closed, including the $10.35 million that Harney paid to Depp by the jury.
A 43-page document submitted to the Fairfax County Circuit Court also calls for an investigation of improper juror service, according to Variety.
This discrepancy raises the question of whether Jury 15 had actually received a summons for jury duty and was properly examined by the court to serve on the jury, Hurd’s lawyers wrote.
According to Variety, Heard’s legal team also argues that the jury’s $10.35 million award against the actress is inconsistent with the jury’s conclusion that both she and Depp defamed each other.
In addition to 10 million in compensatory damages to Depp, as well as 350,000 in punitive damages, the jury also awarded Hurd 2 million in compensatory damages for his counterclaim.
Heard’s lawyers further wrote in the filing that Mr. Depp produced no evidence that Ms. Heard did not believe he had been abused. Therefore, Mr. Depp did not meet the legal requirements for genuine malice, and the verdict should be overruled.
