Auto driver cheated lakhs of rupees posing as colonel, Pune Police came to arrest him from Pathankot | News & Features Network

Pune Police has arrested a 55-year-old autorickshaw driver who allegedly duped several candidates of lakhs of rupees in the name of jobs in the army by posing as a colonel.

The accused Sanjay Sawant was arrested in a joint operation by the Crime Branch of Pune Police and Military Intelligence (MI). He has been handed over to the Pathankot police in Punjab, where a case of cheating is registered against him.

Pune Police said that Sawant had worked as a laborer at the Central Ordnance Depot (COD) on Dehu Road in Pune for 30 years and after that he started driving autorickshaws.

He told that a case was registered against him in Pathankot. A team of Pathankot police had also come to Pune to arrest him.
