Stokes rested for T20 series against South Africa
Stokes is currently playing the ODI series against India and he will also be part of the team in the ODI series against South Africa starting on July 19. After this, he will rest in the T20 series starting from July 27.
Stokes gets rest for workload management
The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) issued a statement saying, “England men’s team captain Ben Stokes will not participate in the Vitality and The Hundred competition, which starts next month, to maintain workload and fitness.”
Stokes was also rested in the T20 series against India
Stokes was also rested in the T20 series against India. Earlier, in the current season, he led England to victory in four consecutive Test matches against New Zealand and India under his captaincy. The three-Test series between England and South Africa will start in August, keeping in mind this decision has been taken to manage their workload. This means that he will not be seen playing for the Northern Supergiants in the second edition of The Hundred.
Will have to play in T20 World Cup with less preparation
Stokes played his last match in the shortest format for the Superchargers on 26 July 2021, after which he took a break from all forms of cricket. He also did not participate in the 2022 Indian Premier League. That is, they will take part in the T20 World Cup to be held in October-November with very little preparation for this format.
