Indian Wrestlers CWG 2022: Indian wrestlers dominated the eighth day of the Birmingham Commonwealth Games. India got two more medals after Bajrang Poonia, Deepak Poonia and Sakshi Malik’s gold and Anshu Malik’s silver. India’s debutant wrestler Mohit Grewal and female wrestler Divya Kakran also won bronze medals for the country.

Divya Kakran won the bronze medal in the women’s freestyle 68kg wrestling event of the Commonwealth Games. At the same time, Mohit Grewal, participating in the Commonwealth Games for the first time, won the bronze medal by defeating Johnson of Jamaica in the men’s 125 kg weight category. India got a total of 6 medals in this way from wrestling on Friday. Earlier, 10 medals were won by weightlifters for India. With this, India’s total medal tally has also gone up to 26.

Mohit Grewal defeated Alexios Kaoslidis of Cyprus in the quarterfinal match to reach the semi-finals of the 125kg freestyle. Here he lost 2-12 to Amarveer Dhesi of Canada. After which he got a chance to get into repechage again. Then in the bronze medal match, he did as expected and won the medal after defeating the Jamaican wrestler.

Divya Kakran won bronze in 30 seconds

India’s 23-year-old female wrestler Divya Kakran gave the country a bronze medal in wrestling at the Commonwealth Games. In the bronze medal match, Divya hit the opponent wrestler Tiger Lily Cocker Lemalier in just 30 seconds. Earlier, in the first Gold Coast Commonwealth Games in 2018, Divya also won a bronze medal. By the end of the 8th day in the Commonwealth Games, India’s medal tally has reached 26. On the 9th day also some famous wrestlers of India will land on the mat to try their luck.
