Former South African international umpire Rudy Kurtzen died in a car accident in the city of Riverdale on Tuesday. Kurtzen was one of the most respected umpires in the world.

Rudi Koertzen Death: Rudi Koertzen, the former international umpire of South Africa, died in a car accident in the city of Riverdale on Tuesday. Kurtzen was one of the most respected umpires in the world. He officiated about 400 international matches. After his death, there is a wave of mourning in the cricket world. Everyone in the cricket world is remembering the story related to him.

Rudy Kurtzen’s son has confirmed this. He told that on Tuesday morning Rudy Kurtzen was returning home from Cape Town to Nelson Bay Mandela after playing golf. That’s when former umpire Rudy Kurtzen was killed in a head-on collision with a car near Riverdale. 3 more people have died with them. He had gone to participate in a golf competition with his friends. He was supposed to return on Monday, but he stayed for one more match and decided to come on Tuesday.

In the year 2002, Rudy Kurtzen was made the umpire of the ICC Elite Panel and he was a part of it for 8 years. Kurtzen played the role of on-field and third umpire in 397 matches. He has officiated in 128 Tests, 250 ODIs and 19 T20 Internationals. During this he also remained in controversies.
