Highlights

  • Hardik took 11 wickets after returning to the captaincy of Rohit
  • Hardik Pandya made a strong comeback from IPL 2022
  • Hardik also became the Player of the Series in the ODI series against England

Indian all-rounder Hardik Pandya’s return and strong performance seems to be ending the problems of the Indian team to a great extent. He recently performed brilliantly with both the ball and the bat in the series (T20 and ODI) against England. While he scored 163 runs in four innings, he also took 11 wickets in 5 innings. Now if we talk about his performance, since his comeback, before this series, he was seen as a better batsman. But after this series all-rounder Hardik Pandya has returned to the team.

Hardik Pandya was instrumental in becoming the champion of Mumbai Indians for a long time and five times in the IPL. But you must be wondering why IPL is being mentioned here. This is because Rohit Sharma is also the captain of Mumbai Indians and at present he is also the captain of Team India. Earlier, Hardik had performed brilliantly with the bat in the South Africa series under the captaincy of Rishabh Pant. He himself was the captain in Ireland. But in both these series, his bowling did not show the edge, but in the England series, his bowling showed improvement while playing under Rohit’s captaincy. His witnesses are these figures:-

Under the captaincy of Rohit Sharma

    • innings – 5
    • Wicket- 11
    • Economy – 5.66
    • Average – 12.36
    • Strike Rate- 13.0

under someone else’s captaincy

    • innings – 6
    • Wicket – 1
    • Economy – 11.66
    • Average – 105
    • Strike Rate- 54.0

It is clear from these figures above that Hardik Pandya emerges as a different bowler under the captaincy of Rohit Sharma. After the last ODI against England, Hardik also said, ‘My body is fine now. That’s why I am able to bowl so much without any problem. The special thing is that the role of the captain in managing my workload is superb. He knows very well when I want to bowl and when not.

Take a look at Hardik’s overall career record

Hardik Pandya made his international debut for India in T20 format on 26 January 2016. After this, in October the same year, he also got the ODI cap. Then on 26 July 2017 he made his Test debut. He first appeared in IPL in 2015. He has played 11 Tests, 66 ODIs and 63 T20 Internationals for India so far. He has also played 107 matches in IPL.
