The fifth and final match of the series between India and West Indies was played in Florida. Team India defeated West Indies by 88 runs in this last match. India won this match and won 4-1 in the five-match T20 series. In the fifth match, Hardik Pandya was captaining instead of Rohit Sharma. Batting first after winning the toss, India scored 188 runs for the loss of 7 wickets. Shreyas Iyer, who came to the opening, scored 64 runs in 40 balls for India. In response, the West Indies team was reduced to 100 runs and India won the match by 88 runs. Hardik Pandya gave his statement after winning the match.
After the match, Hardik Pandya said, ‘It is a great feeling to get a chance to lead our country. Obviously winning the match means a lot to me. Captain Rohit Sharma did everything well before this match, so I made sure we keep up the good work.
When asked about the captaincy, Hardik said, ‘Why not? If given a chance, I would be very happy to do it. But for now, we have the World Cup coming up, it’s about getting better as a team. The kind of players we have and the freedom we are getting, this is a new India. I can see players playing freely and not worrying about failing. And when you do that, you do special things.’
Talking about the match, Hardik won the toss and decided to bat first. Batting first, Team India scored 188 runs for the loss of 7 wickets. In the absence of Rohit Sharma, Shreyas Iyer came out to play as an opener with Ishan Kishan. Shreyas Iyer played the highest innings of 64 runs. While Deepak Hooda scored 38 and Hardik Pandya scored 28 runs. Odion Smith took four wickets for West Indies.
