Indore district court has issued an arrest warrant against film critic Kamal Rashid Khan alias KRK in a defamation case filed by Bollywood actor Manoj Bajpayee. This case has been registered on social media platform Twitter on the allegation of Manoj Bajpayee being called ‘Charsi and Ganjedi’ by KRK.
Warrant issued on Thursday
Manoj Bajpayee’s lawyer Paresh Joshi gave this information on Friday and said that after hearing both sides on his client’s application, a First Class Judicial Magistrate (JMFC) issued an arrest warrant against KRK on Thursday and issued a notice for his appearance in the court. The date was fixed for May 10. In this application, it was said on behalf of Bajpai that KRK is fully aware of the defamation case pending in the district court of Indore, but he is deliberately not appearing before the court to allegedly delay the hearing of the case.
What is KRK’s argument
On the other hand, on behalf of KRK, JMFC was requested to stay the proceedings against them in the district court as a petition has been presented in the Apex Court on their behalf, in which they are hopeful of getting relief from the stay order. JMFC was also informed by KRK that he was suffering from cancer. Significantly, on December 13, 2022, the Madhya Pradesh High Court dismissed the petition filed by Bajpayee to quash the defamation case filed against KRK in the district court of Indore. Manoj Bajpayee has alleged in a lawsuit filed in the district court that KRK had called him “Charsi and Ganjedi” in two tweets on July 26, 2021 from different Twitter handles with the intention of tarnishing his reputation.
‘KRK Box Office’ does not belong to KRK
During the arguments on the petition filed in the High Court, the counsel for KRK, while rejecting the above allegation, said that one of the twitter handles ‘KRK Box Office’ had on October 22, 2020 sent a ‘Deed of Declaration or Agreement’ to a person named Salim Ahmed. Has been sold and KRK was not using this handle at the time of the alleged tweet about Bajpayee. On behalf of KRK, it was also said in his defense in the High Court that he had never made any comment with the intention of insulting Bajpayee or any other artist of the Indian film industry.
