Niharika Roy: Why not bring content that can bring change in the society

“No one can deny that people consume a lot of content through various entertainment mediums. Be it TV, movies or web space, everything is being watched. So why not we come up with content that can help bring a change in the society.” If not a big one then at least a small act can change things,” said Roy on his Lucknow visit.

Talking about working on genuine and relevant content, she says, “I am happy to be a part of some genuine and thought-provoking content. Most recently, I wrapped a sequence where the female protagonist faces abuse at the hands of a relative during a festive fun. It is very common in our society but sometimes it goes unnoticed and voice is not raised. As a young man it pains me why so many women ignore any abuse that comes their way. Burying one’s head in the sand is no solution to such issues prevalent in our society. There are some who speak out about ill-treatment at the hands of relatives but still there are a large number who silently accept it under duress.

Currently busy with her daily soap, Roy says it will take time to explore other mediums and projects due to her show commitments.

“For now, I’m very busy with my show first name of love is radha mohan And I value my commitment towards the character that I am playing. But at some point of time maybe I will look to try some projects which are on a smaller format,” concluded Roy.
