This is the 19th gold medal for India in the Commonwealth Games 2022.

Sindhu defeated Canadian shuttler Michelle Lee 2-0 in the final match. With this victory, he won the gold medal. Sindhu took the lead from the first game of the final itself. They started off brilliantly and won the first game 21-15. After this, she was playing with an edge in the second game as well. But in the meantime Michelle was also trying to lead, although she could not succeed. Sindhu also won the second game. They won it 21-13.

Significantly, this is India’s first gold medal in badminton. Team India has now reached the fourth position in the tally with 19 gold medals. Along with gold, India has also won 15 silver and 22 bronze medals. Now India has a total of 56 medals. Canada is in third place in this matter. Canada has 26 gold medals. While Australia is at the first place with 66 gold medals.
