Scoop Trailer: Karishma Tanna plays a crime reporter who becomes the story herself in Hansal Mehta’s gripping drama

Produced by Hansal Mehta and Mrunmayi Lagoo Vaikule, the upcoming Netflix series Scoop stars Karishma Tanna as Jagriti Pathak, a star crime reporter who finds herself prime accused in the shocking murder of another journalist. As she becomes the headlines, she has to fight for her innocence as everyone believes that she got help from her underworld contacts to lock up her rival. The trailer shows Jagriti as the deputy bureau chief of a newspaper, who takes an interview with one of the big names of the underworld, Nana, who is related to Chhota Rajan’s gang. He has good sources with his informants and even the police all eventually turn on him when Jaydeb Sen (Prosenjit Chatterjee) is murdered in cold blood. She becomes the prime suspect and is sent to jail. While most of the world believes that Jagruti is guilty, she must fight to clear her name. Through it all, his family has stood by his side.

Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub plays his supportive colleague and friend, while Harman Baweja plays a police officer. The gripping trailer shows how a woman’s life is turned upside down by a single allegation that everyone believes. Written by Mrinmoyee Lagoo Vaikul and Mirat Trivedi, the play is inspired by real events.

On YouTube, fans shared that they were eagerly waiting for the series to air next month. One fan wrote, “When Hansal Mehta’s name is attached to it, you know this show is going to rock.” Another said, “It looks absolutely blockbuster… Karishma Tanna is breathing life as Jagruti Pathak.” Yet another praised Prosenjit who has a pivotal role in the series. “After Jubilee now it’s… Bamba da is in full form! Not to forget his recent Bengali critically acclaimed film Shesh Pata (The Last Page) which released in April this year,” he added.

Produced by Matchbox Shots, Scoop is adapted from Jigna Vora’s book, Behind Bars in Byculla: My Days in Prison. The ensemble cast includes Deven Bhojani, Tannishtha Chatterjee, Tejaswini Kolhapure, Shikha Talsania, Tanmay Dhanania, Inayat Sood, Swaroop Ghosh, Malhar Thakar, Ira Dubey, Ishita Arun and Sanat Vyas. Scoop will premiere on Netflix on June 2, 2023.
