Colombo: Amidst the ongoing political crisis in Sri Lanka, the picture of a couple kissing is becoming very viral. This couple is seen kissing each other unaware of the people around. So far 35 people have been hospitalized in the ongoing violence in Sri Lanka. Meanwhile, a person injured in the violence has also died. Wickremesinghe asks parliament to appoint new prime minister
Sri Lanka’s acting President and Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe on Wednesday asked Speaker of Parliament Mahinda Yapa Abhayawardene to nominate a prime minister acceptable to both the government and the opposition. According to a statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Office, Wickremesinghe held a meeting with cabinet members in his office. It said that all the ministers who attended the meeting were of the opinion that as soon as there is an agreement to form an all-party government, they will hand over the responsibility to the new government.Pressure on Wickremesinghe to step down before Gotabaya

Police said the police fired tear gas shells to disperse the protesters near the official residence of the Speaker of Parliament. A young man had died due to shortness of breath. He was among the group that stormed the Prime Minister’s Office in the morning. 35 others were injured in this incident.
Curfew extended till 5 am tomorrow in Sri Lanka, notification issued
In Sri Lanka, Acting President Ranil Wickremesinghe issued a gazette notification, imposing a curfew on the entire island till 5 am. In such a situation, the army and police have been equipped with extraordinary powers. Earlier, Ranil Wickremesinghe said in a televised address that he had ordered the army to do whatever is necessary to restore order. He asked the protesters who have occupied his office and other state buildings to withdraw immediately and cooperate with the authorities.

Former Sri Lankan military commander MP and Field Marshal Sarath Fonseka has appealed to the three services to refrain from implementing the directives issued by Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe. Ranil Wickremesinghe has also been given the responsibility of acting President after Gotabaya Rajapaksa left the country. Sarath Fonseca issued a statement saying that Ranil Wickremesinghe has appointed himself as the acting President and the directions issued by such a person are against the Constitution.
